Rhode Island comic con 2014.
So this year was the first year I went to Rhode Island comic con. It was pretty fun. Although I owe a huge thank you to a friend of mine who's a dealer and got me a pass today so I didn't need to wait in line. I did hear a lot of complaints from people as far as how the con was run.
It was very disorganized and didn't run smoothly. People had to wait in line for a very long time. I heard that they even had to many people in the building at one point and the fire marshal said no more people could go in.
So people had to wait even longer outside before they were let in. And the set up of the show was not that great. It had an inefficient floor plan that caused a lot of traffic and it took a while to get around.
But personally I had a great time.
I bought quite a few key issues and some very nice books. I finally broke down and got myself a Batman Aventures number 12, which is the first appearance of Harley Quinn. I got to see a lot of people that I've gotten to know from other cons over the last few months which is always fun and I even got to meet another member of the YouTube comic community.
I got Neal Admas to sign a book for me and Jim Steranko to sign three books for me. I've met both of them before and they are always cool. Steranko is the man. He even remarked how the books I handed him were nicer than the copies he had at home.
I got to meet Katrina Law who plays Nyssa Al Ghul on Arrow and she was also on Spartacus, she was extremely nice and took her time to talk with each fan, I got her to sign a copy of Detective Comics 783, which is Nyssa's first appearance. She thought it was cool.
And a really cool experience I had today was, I got to work at my friends table for a while and while I was there, there was this guy looking through boxes and he looked familiar, I did a double take and it was Eddie McClintock, who played Pete Lattimer on Warehouse 13. So I got to talk to him for a while, I told him I was huge fan of the show and was very sad when it was canceled. He was extremely nice and greatful that I was a fan.
I know a lot of people had complaints about the show but for me personally it was a great time. I walked away with a lot of cool stuff.
I would give my experience at the con an 8.5/10
I would say the con as a whole would get a 6/10
Let me know if any of you guys went to Rhode Island comic con and let me know what your thoughts are!
