ComiConn 2017 Review

So over the weekend I went to ComiConn, it was held at the Foxwoods casino in Connecticut. The venue is great, a much needed improvement over the last few years when the show was in Hartford. This show was amazingly good. It had a decent guest list and some celebrities. It wasn't the best buying show but people came with cash ready to buy books. I made some great money at this show. One of the best in a while. It was only 2 days, I have a feeling it will be 3 days next year. They actually controlled how many people were let in at once so it wasn't jam packed in there and you could actually walk around.
Big shout out to CBCS, those guys are always great. I submitted a lot of books to them this weekend. I don't think I saw a single person at the CGC booth, it was a ghost town all weekend.
So I wasn't really focused on buying books. I was trying to sell and also buy some original art. I saw Ken Lashely who I've met before. He's a great guy and a wicked awesome artist. I had him do a Wolverine sketch for me and he killed it. I also bought a page from him. Definitely the highlight of the show for me was meeting Jim Balent. I was there at 8am on Sunday way before they let the public in and Jim Balent was already at his table. I just went up to him and started talking with him. He is honestly the nicest guy in comics that I've ever met. I just kicked it with him for like 45 minutes, we just talked comics and movies and the industry as a whole. And he did a sick Catwoman sketch for me. If you ever get the chance to meet him at a con do it, you won't be disappointed.
This was a fun show for me. Usually these things are fun but exhausting and by the end you're glad it's over but this show went by fast for me, it didn't drag on at all. I was very happy how it turned out and look forward to next year.
This show gets a 9.0/10 for sure. I had a great time.
Next show I'll be at will be MassiveCon in Worcester in 2 weeks.
