Boston Comic Con 2016 Review

So this was my third year in a row going to Boston Comic Con. And the show gets better each year. I'm sorry I didn't review this after each day when I went and it was more fresh in my mind but here goes.

So first off was Thursday, which is just load in day. I do get a dealer pass into the show and helped a few dealers who are friends of mine. It took a few hours to set up and get ready for the Con. But I enjoy the set up. And the anticipation of what's to come.

Like I said before I would have done a review for each day but Friday to Sunday kind of mesh together so I'll just talk about the show as a whole now.

The guest list for the show was amazing, so many great artists and writers. There were some celebrities as well, but Boston is still a comic show at its core. My collecting always seems to be shifting and now I'm focused more on collecting Original Art than comics themselves. A show like this is also a great chance to commission pieces from the artists that you're a fan of.
Of corse I did buy comics as well. The book I was most happy to come away with was a third printing of TMNT 1. I doubt I'll ever be able to afford a first print and second prints are pretty pricey as well. But I got a great deal and couldn't leave it. I bought other books as well but nothing serious. I also sold quite a bit.
Next were my commissions, I was able to get a lot done and I'm extremely happy.
I met Ken Lashley, he was the man. This was my first time meeting him and he was wicked nice to deal with.. He told me some great stories and I probably got to speak with him for about 20 minutes, and in convention time that's pretty much a lifetime. I commissioned a Sabertooth piece from him and he killed it. It turned out so awesome. I also bought a Joker piece that he had done before the show. And I was lucky enough to be able to purchase an original art page from him. It has Superman and Brainiac and its badass. If you ever get a chance to meet him, do yourself a favor and go see him.
Next was Ming Doyle, I've seen her all three years that I've attended the show and she's awesome. She's always wicked nice. I commissioned a Wonder Woman piece from her and she did an incredible job. I also picked up a sketchbook from her.
Next was Tim Seeley, I've met him before as well. I asked him to do an Elektra piece for me and he did a great job.
I also got to meet David Lloyd, which was awesome for me because I'm a huge V for Vendetta fan. He doesn't technically take commissions but he will draw a quick sketch of V which I gladly accepted.
I met Raphael Albuquerque, he was cool and I bought an original page from him from Gotham Academy which I was super happy to get because that's a series that I'm a big fan of.
An extremely underrated artist is Cat Staggs. I'm a huge fan of her work on the Orphan Black comic series. This was the first time I met her. I commissioned her to do a Rey from Star Wars and it came out amazing. She really out did herself.
I met the Master of the Macabre himself, the legendary Bernie Wrightson. My pockets aren't deep enough to buy any original art from him but I did get a Batman and a Swamp Thing print signed by him.
And last but certainly not least I got to meet Chrissie Zullo. She was incredibly nice and I asked her to do an Eleven from Stranger Things. She was a fan of the show as well so we got to talk about that for a while which was cool. And then piece she did for me is just incredible. Possibly my favorite commission that I own.
I'm not really big into celebrity autographs but I'm a huge fan of the Arrow TV show. And Caity Lotz was there who played the Black Canary on Arrow and the White Canary on Legneds of Tomorrow. I did get her autograph and she was very nice.

Overall I had a great time at the show. It's fun to hang out with all my friends that I only see at cons. I've had more fun each year at this show.
I would definitley give it a 10/10

Did any of you guys attend the con this year? If so what did you think of it?
Let me know if you enjoyed this review
