Granite State Comic Con 2014
My experience at the 2014 Granite State Comic Con was great. I was actually a volunteer this year, it was the first time I had ever volunteered at a con. It was a fun and interesting experience and I would definitely do it again next year
So I'll tell you a little bit about what I did as a volunteer.
So when I got there today I went to the front desk and let the person there know that I was there to volunteer. She directed me to anther woman who was one of the ones in charge, although we all just kind of policed ourselves and worked well together. But anyway, she then gave me a staff T-shirt to wear and showed me around.
The first area I worked was in the front directing people as they came in. There were two different lines to buy tickets, one for people who were paying with cash and the other for credit, so I directed people to the correct lines. That was my main job for the day where I spent most of my time. I also answered any questions people had and directed them to any other areas that they need to go to, such as panels and photo op areas. I also worked the floor a little. Just walking around to see if anyone needed help or if dealers needed anything. I also got to see some of the same dealers I knew from Boston Comic Con so that was fun.
I met a lot of great people. The people that were volunteering with me were all awesome. It was definitely a good feeling to help people at the show. Everyone seemed to be in a great mood at the show. I got a lot of thank you's from people as well as dealers and even a few of the artists thanked me for making the show go so smoothly. I got to see a lot of awesome costumes.
But being a volunteer was great. Like I said before I got a cool staff T-shirt, we also has our own staff room that we could take a break in. And we also got food and drinks. It was just an overall fun experience.
So for those of you that are local to New England or live in New Hampshire I would definitely recommend Granite State Comic Con, it's a nice small local show. And when I say small I mean probably around a few thousand people. So it's small compared to Boston Comic Con, but it's a nice size. You have a great selection of dealers, there were comic book artists and writers, and there were also some celebrities as well. You were label to walk around freely without it being to crowded. It was a comfortable show to be at for sure. It was very enjoyable
So in conclusion, I really had a great time as a volunteer at this years Granite State Comic Con, I would gladly volunteer again next year.
I would give the overall experience a 9.5/10
Thanks for reading and I hope to see you guys at Granite State Comic Con 2015!
