I met comic book legend George Perez today.
I got to meet one of the nicest people in comics today and that was George Perez. He is currently doing a nation wide signing tour to promote his new book from BOOM studious called Sirens. And it just so happened that his stop on his tour today was at my local comic shop.
He was one of the nicest people I've ever met. He's so genuine and really appreciates his fans. And for someone who is a legend in the industry, that's pretty cool.
It's always a great experience to meet someone that you've been a fan of, and you have a positive experience.
So he was scheduled to be signing at my shop from 6-8pm tonight, I got to the shop early of course, at around 4:45, and George Perez had just gotten there a few minutes earlier. So for the first half hour or so there were only a few of us there, which was cool because we got to have a more personal conversation with him and ask a lot of question.
So I assume that on his signing tour he has an exclusive variant for each shop that he goes to, because my shop owner had an exclusive variant for us and you can only get the variant at my shop, which is pretty cool. I also got the virgin variant for issue 1 and the virgin sketch cover for issue 1, and I think both are 1 in 50 variants. So I had those books signed, and Mr. Perez didn't care how many books you had for him to sign, but unfortunately he wasn't doing sketches tonight. I did bring some other books for him to sign. The books I had him sign were New Teen Titans issue 1, Tales of the Teen Titans issues 44, Crisis on Infinite Earths issues 7 and 8, Wonder Woman issue 1 from her second series, and Marvel Fanfare issue 10.
So all in all it was awesome to meet George Perez. If any of you he the chance to meet him at a store signing or at a con you definitely should. And go check out his new book, Sirens.
