Docotr Who episode 2 review 8/30/14.....sort of... Ok so I know last week I said I probably wouldn't watch another episode of Docotr Who this season because I really didn't like it last week. But I couldn't help myself, I like Doctor Who way to much not to watch it. I'm guess you could call this a review but I didn't really write one, I usually write my reviews as I watch the episode but I didn't want to write another negative review like last week because of how low my expectations for this week were. So all I'm going to say is that this episode was better and the Daleks are back. Still not a huge fan of Capaldi but he wasn't as bad as last week. Anyway I'll write a regular review next week. Another Arrow casting Amy Gumenick, a former Supernatural cast member, will join the cast of Arrow this season as Carrie Cutter, better known as Cupid. She is sort of like an Arrow stalker and will have some part in this upcoming season. She joins the long list of new characters that will be joining the show this season. Other characters that have already been announced are, Ray Palmer, Manhunter, Wildcat and Ras Al Ghul.

Comic book collecting... Hey everyone, so it's been about four or five weeks now since the last time I picked up any new comics on a Wednesday. For those of you who don't know, Wednesday is when the new issues for the week come out. But anyway, I just don't really feel like spending money on new books that don't have the best stories or the best art. I would much rather spend money on key issues and back issues that I need for my collection. So here are some tips for a new collector, and these tips are just my opinion. So if you're just getting into comic collecting I wouldn't really recommend buying new issues. They may be cheaper to buy but as far as collecting factor goes, it isn't really there. I think a lot of people have the misconception that every new book that comes out will be the next Walking Dead and the books will be worth a fortune. Walking Dead was one in a million and that will probably never happen with a modern book again. Sure some book...

An update and a rumor. So a few months ago we learned that Katana will be appearing on the upcoming season of Arrow. And we learned yesterday that the role had to be recast due to scheduling conflicts. Rila Fukushima will replace Devon Aoki as Katana on this season of Arrow. You may remember Rila from her role as Yukio in the Wolverine movie. So that is just a quick update on Arrow. And now for a rumor. Ms. Marvel has been rumored to appear in the upcoming Avengers 2 movie for quite some time. It looks like we have gotten some information that says she may be referenced in the movie but may not appear in it. What do you guys think of Carol Danvers, would you like to see her appear in the Avengers 2 movie? Or would you like to see her get her own solo movie first? And who would you like to see cast as the role of Carol Danvers/Ms Marvel?

Doctor Strange movie? So it's been rumored for probably almost a year now that Marvel was going to be making a Doctor Strange movie, and it looks like it's finally about to happen. And now it looks like Marvel is finally ready to cast the role. Today we learned that Joaquin Phoenix is in talks for the role and is supposedly extremely close to signing on. So what do you guys think about this casting choice? There are still very few details about the movie so far, what villains will be in the movie, or a possible release date. I will keep you guys updated on any further information!

Happy Birthday Jack Unfortunately the King, Jack Kirby is no longer with us, but today would have been his 97th birthday. Kirby is truly one of the best there ever was when it comes to comic book artists. He, along with Stan Lee, created some of the greatest comic book characters, such as the Xmen, the Incredible Hulk and the Fantastic Four, and so much more. He also did some amazing work for DC comics, such as Mister Miracle, the New Gods and more. He created his own style for drawing cosmic energy known as "Kirby Dots", which people still copy to this day. Jack Kirby is a true legend in the world of comics and his work will never be forgotten. We thank you for all your contributions to the industry and making it was it is today!

The strain episode 7 review 8/24/14 SPOILERS ahead. So this episode begins with the husband of the lawyer woman who was infected being attacked in a cab as he's being driven home, then he gets inside and sees that his wife has turned. And she kills him. Now back to Eph, Nora, and the vampire hunter....and more talking. So the vampire hunter is explaining to Eph that if you kill the Master all the vampires will die. That's pretty convenient. We are flashing back to WWII again, the nazi vampire goes into the camp and starts killing people, he found a Jewish carving and wanted to know who made it, turns out it was the vampire hunter that made it and the nazi vampire asks him to work on a special project, which turns out to be the Masters coffin. So Eph goes to see Jim, Jim explains to his wife that he's the one that is responsible for this disease getting out. She really isn't believing him. So it turns out that the nazi vampire was a nazi during WWII but not a vamp...

Doctor Who season 8. So season 8 of Doctor Who began last night and it was a giant disappointment. To be honest I think it might have been the worst episode of Doctor Who to date. It was so boring and really nothing about it was interesting. Jenna Coleman who plays Clara was ok, I've never been a huge fan of her as a companion. But Peter Capaldi, who plays the Doctor now, was terrible. He is the worst Doctor by a mile in my opinion. The episode was actually hard to watch it was so bad. And I like to consider myself a pretty big Doctor Who fan. So my question to my fellow Whovians is, what did you think of that episode? Am I overreacting? Or was it really that bad? Let me know what you guys think. I'm not even entirely sure if I'll watch another episode this season. Rumor has it that Jenna Coleman will be leaving the show after the Christmas episode and that Peter Capaldi is only a one season Docotr, honestly I hope the rumors are true. Another villain cast for the Flash show. So today it was announced that another villain has been cast for the Flash tv show. Girder will appear in the upcoming season of the Flash. Now this is a villain that I've never even heard of, and I'm honestly starting to get a little worried. They have cast so many different characters for the show and I hope it doesn't get overloaded. I hope it's not going to turn into "the creature of the week show" where the Flash battles a different villain each week and that's it. Do I want to see villains in the show? Sure I do, but like Arrow I want it to have a cohesive story. Arrow has cast it's fair share of new characters for its upcoming season as well, but Arrow already has two successful seasons under its belt. This will be the first season of the Flash, so I think they should focus on the main characters more and worry less about who he will take on each week. But we'll just have to wait and see go wit turn...

Felicity Smoak So probably around the time of San Diego comic com we heard that Felicity was getting an origin story episode on the upcoming season of Arrow. And the episode was called "Oracle". So us fans got excited that we may have a Barbara Gordon and Birds of Prey connection hear. But for some reason it was announced today that the Arrow producers have changed the name of the episode to "the secret origin of Felicity Smoak", so why did they change the name? It will be interesting to see what the episode will entail. They are going to introduce Felicity's mother but they have yet to say if her father will be revealed. So I guess we'll have to wait for the episode. I can't wait for season 3 of Arrow to start!

An Arrow and Shield cast update and some rumors.   So today we learned that Mockingbird has finally been cast on the Shield tv show. Actress Adrianne Palicki with play Bobbi Morse, aka Mockingbird in the upcoming season of Agents of Shield. Her first appearance, which is already a pretty hot book because of her rumored appearance on the show is in Marvel team-up issue 95. Next in Arrow news, they have cast actor Matt Ward to play the villain Komodo. Komodo first appeared in the New 52 Green Arrow series in issue 17, so he's a relatively new character. Next we have some rumors. So we all know that Vin Diesel voiced Groot in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie. But he's been teasing having a larger role in the Marvel Universe for a while now. Recent rumors suggest he will play the role of Black Bolt in a rumored Inhumans movie. Next is Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, he's been teasing us with rumors of him playing a DC hero or villain. Young Justice season 1 review.  So I wanted to do a review on the first season of young justice as a whole. The show was recommended to me by a good friend of mine. I wasn't really that familiar with the characters and didn't read many teen titans comics. But this was a really great show. It was nice to see some of the familiar Justice League characters like Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman integrated into the show, but they weren't the main focus. So the team is made up of Superboy, Aqualad, Robin, Kid Flash, and Miss Martian. There are appearances by some others as well. Speedy was in the first episode but declines to joint he team. Artemis joins a little ways in and becomes a team regular. And Zatanna joins the team towards the end of the season. All the character on the show were great, I liked them all. Each episode had its own story and mission but they were all sort of interconnected into one larger story. I don't want to give any spoilers because the show w...

The strain episode 6 review 8/17/14 SPOILERS ahead. Ok so last week wasn't so great so let's hope this episode is better. They keep talking about this eclipse that's coming so I'm assuming that it has some significance to the story. So the nazi vampire guy has this guy chained up in a padded room, very weird, then he kills him. So the cops and now the FBI are after Eph because they think he killed the pilot. I still don't really understand the exterminator guys part in all this, he saw the vampires and didn't really do anything about it. So Eph's wife's boyfriend is a moron and calls the FBI on Eph and they take him away for questioning. So the wife and boyfriend are arguing now, she really needs to dump this guys, he's so damn annoying. Now back to the vampire hunter, he's on the hunt for others on his list of the people that were on the airplane. He goes into the basement of a house and it's covered in blood, there are four or five v...

Recent rumors update. So just a quick update, Apparently the episode of Arrow that's coming this season titled "the magician" isn't referring to Zatanna. Now it's being said that it's referring to Merlin the magician or Malcolm Merlin. Now I don't really remember him being referred to as the "magician" in the comics but I guess it makes sense. So will this be a back story episode on Merlin?, will he get his own island flashbacks? We really haven't heard much else about the episode. If I hear anything else I'll let you guys know.

Rumors So after yesterday's news that Jason Momoa will indeed play Aquaman in Batman vs Superman Dawn of Justice, it looks like DC is also planning a solo Aquaman movie. That is somewhat encouraging to think that they have enough faith in the character to give him his own film. And they may have also found a writer for the movie. Next on the rumor mill is Zatanna. Apparently episode 50 of Arrow, which we'll see in season 3, is titled "The Magician". So a lot of speculation is pointing towards Zatanna making an appearance on the show. I would love to see Zatanna make an appearance on Arrow. I've always liked her character. She has some great stories in the comics as part of the Justice League. She was a great character on the Young Justice tv show. And the characters that have appeared on Arrow so far have all been done well so I'm excited to see if the rumors are true and we get Zatanna for season 3.

Batman Assault on Arkham review 8/12/2014 SPOILERS ahead if you haven't seen this yet. So let's start off with the animation style. I liked it a lot. I think it really worked will for the movie. It's a little less like the Japanese animation style that DC has used in some of its animated movies. I'm not a huge fan of the Japanese style so I liked the animation in this movie. Batman didn't play a huge part in this movie. It was more focused on the Suicide Squad. Harley Quinn was great in the movie. I liked Killer Frost and Deadshot as well. The other characters were ok but not great. So Amanda Waller sends the Squad after the Riddler who hacked her computer and stole information on the Suicide Squad. The Riddler is in Arkham so the Squad needs to break in. The Joker and the Penguin also have small parts in the movie. Batman is also on the hunt for a dirty bomb that the Joker planted somewhere in Gotham. So the Squad breaks into Arkham Asylum and now they need to...

Aquaman cast in Batman vs Superman Dawn of Justice Well it's finally official, Jason Momoa who had been rumored to play Aquaman for months now has been confirmed. He will play the King of Atlantis in the movie set to release March 25, 2016. Adding Aquaman to the cast adds yet another original member of the Justice League of America. It will be interesting to see the interpretation of Aquaman used in the movie, as Jason Momoa doesn't really have the look of the tradition Aquaman from the comics. I wonder what the costume will look like and if he will have his Trident. It's also not known yet how big of a part he'll play in the movie. As a huge Justice League fan I'm interested to see what this movie will be like and hope that it's great and leads to an awesome Justice League of America movie.

The strain episode 5 review 8/10/14 SPOILERS ahead if you haven't seen this episode.  So this episode starts off with the assistant to the rocker guy that was infected getting him a doctor. She goes up to check on him and walks in on him eating her...this show is getting weird. So the vampire hunter guy and Eph are talking and making breakfast and talking...and that's about all they're doing right now.  Ok so now we are flashing back to 1944 during WWII when the vampire hunter is a young man. He was transported to a concentration camp.  Ok now we are back to present time to the lawyer woman's house who was infected.  Ok now back to Eph and the vampire hunter, they are still talking... And still talking... The vampire hunter is recruiting Eph to his team. I guess he's going to hunt with him now. Ok so now Eph and the vampire hunting are talking and driving, there has been a lot of talking going on in this episode.  So we find out that the infecte...

Boston Comic Con 2014... Farewell, until next year, Ok so an overview of my overall experience. If I could only use one word to describe Boston Comic Con 2014, that word would be, absolutely amazing...ok I know that's two words. But it truly was an amazing experience. One thing that I wanted to talk about that I didn't mention in my previous posts is, because of some dealers I knew, I was able to get an exhibitor pass, which means I was able to get in early to the show each day. This made my experience a lot different from all my other times going to cons. I had never gotten an exhibitor pass before. So I was able to experience what the dealers experience before and after the show each day. It made the show a lot more personal, we got to know each other better. In the morning we'd say hello and get to talk before the craziness started. I know the con is only three days long but you get to develop a personal relationship with the dealers because of the comradery you all ...

Boston Comic Con day 3 The final day of Boston Comic Con has come to an end, and man was it awesome. I can say for sure that this is the best convention I've ever attended and I can't wait to go back next year. My experience today was extremely positive. The dealers that I already  knew continued to give me great deals. Also some new dealers that I met on Friday and was able to build a great relationship over the weekend with, did so as well. I was even able to help my local comic shop owner find a book that he was looking for. One new dealer in particular was awesome, I spent a lot of time at his booth, buying books, talking about books and movies, and I even sold him some books and he gave me a very fair price for them. He had his wife working the show with him and she was great as well, really cool people. Really everyone there was a pleasure to interact with. I went back to see Tim Seely and Mike Norton today and had them sign another issue of revival for me, they were ...

Boston Comic Con day 2 Again..., wow what a day. I can officially call Boston Comic Con 2014 the best convention I've ever attended. Everything about it was wicked awesome. Let me express how lucky I was to get all the autographs I needed yesterday, there was at least twice as many people at the con today and autograph lines were insane. The show as a whole was much more crowded and walking down certain sections was a nightmare. But I mainly stayed in the area of the dealers that I buy from. Yesterday my first purchase was Strange Adventures 205, today it was Next Men 21, another awesome issue and it's a near mint copy, I paid $30 for it. I was able to get great deals on books all day long, just like yesterday. Some of the new dealers that I met were great and I'll definitely be buying from them in the future. There were a lot of people in cosplay and some of them made some really great costumes, of course there was also some bad ones, but it was cool to look at. I...

Boston Comic Con day 1 Wow what a day... Let me start off by saying that Boston Comic Con has already surpassed all my expectations and it's only the end of day 1. There were way more people there today than I thought there would be. There were a ton of great dealers who brought a lot of quality books. Of course some books we're really over priced but a lot were priced well. So I got to meet some awesome artists and writers. I met Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo, those two guys were awesome, so nice and just happy to be there and interact with the fans. I met Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti, they were also great, really friendly and super cool. I met Tim Seely and Mike Norton, they were great and Tim even did a quick sketch for me, free of charge. I met Gail Simone, she was wicked awesome. I also met Mark Waid, who I've met before, and he's always wicked nice. I met some other cool people as well. The state of your pull list: Hey everyone. So I've got a question, how has your pull list been affected over the last few months or so, or maybe as far back as the last year? I know for me, I find myself picking up fewer and fewer books each week. I've been waiting to write a segment called, "my weekly comic reviews", but last week I didn't get a single book, and this week all I'm picking up is Rachel Rising, which I can't read because I'm not caught up with the series yet. So my question to you guys is, do you find yourselves in a similar situation? Has you pull list stayed relatively the same? Or are you getting more books these days? I can remember back when the  New 52 was launched and I was picking up a lot of books, sometimes close to 20 each week, now I'd be lucky to get 5. The strain episode 4 review 8/3/2014 SPOILERS ahead if you haven't seen this episode. So we start this episode where we left off last week, in the hospital after Eph killed the vampire. Jim is getting to be annoying. So the wife that walked in on her husband drinking blood, doesn't seem that freaked out by it, which is extremely weird. So we see this Gus character, I'm still trying to figure him out. There is a lot of mindless talking going on... Ok so Eph is performing an autopsy on the vampire. He pulls the tongue thing out, that was gross. Jim is freaking out. And Eph just realized that they can reproduce, as in convert humans to whatever they are, because they still don't call them vampires. A random post Hey everyone, I just felt like talking about a few things. First, Guardians of the Galaxy made almost 100 million dollars this weekend domestically, not surprising because it's a Marvel movie and it has a talking raccoon, so I'm sure kids loved it. What has surprised me is that probably 99% of people that I've talked to about the movie think it's the best Marvel movie to date... I guess I just don't get it, but moving on... I will be posting my review for episode 4 of the strain tonight so I hope you'll enjoy that. Also I will be going to Boston Comic Con, which is Friday thru Sunday, August 8-10, at the end of each day of the con I'll post my experiences for that day, from the people I meet to the comics I pick up. Guardians of the Galaxy movie review Hey everyone, so this is going to be my review of the Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Let me start by saying there will be SPOILERS, so read at your own risk. So I saw the movie in 3D, and the 3D was actually pretty good in my opinion. I also thought that the special fx in the movie were done well. Ok so here is my breakdown of the movie. So the movie starts with a young Peter Quill who is at the hospital as his mother is dying. After she dies he runs outside where he is taken by Yondu. We then fast forward 20+ years and now he's Star Lord. Star Lord is then captured stealing an orb, which we later find out contains an infinity stone. Then we get to see Ronan, who sends Gamora to get the orb for him. While she is trying to take the orb from Star Lord we get introduced to Groot and Rocket who want to turn Star Lord in to collect the bounty on him. They all end up getting captured by the Nova Corps and are sent to prison. While they are there t...
