Boston Comic Con 2014... Farewell, until next year,
Ok so an overview of my overall experience. If I could only use one word to describe Boston Comic Con 2014, that word would be, absolutely amazing...ok I know that's two words. But it truly was an amazing experience.
One thing that I wanted to talk about that I didn't mention in my previous posts is, because of some dealers I knew, I was able to get an exhibitor pass, which means I was able to get in early to the show each day.
This made my experience a lot different from all my other times going to cons. I had never gotten an exhibitor pass before. So I was able to experience what the dealers experience before and after the show each day.
It made the show a lot more personal, we got to know each other better. In the morning we'd say hello and get to talk before the craziness started. I know the con is only three days long but you get to develop a personal relationship with the dealers because of the comradery you all have. We all have a common interest in comics. It was fun to see the inner workings of a convention for the first time. I even helped set up some things. Also one huge advantage was getting in early, I was able to get books that I wanted before the general public was let in. It just felt more comfortable and made you feel like you were part of the inner circle. I hope to do the same thing next year. I know that I will continue the relationships that I made this weekend. I made so many great connections.
It really is hard for me to express in words how much fun I had and how great the experience truly was. I met a lot of great people, from artists and writers, dealers and cosplayers, to just some really cool collectors.
If any of you get the chance to attend next years show, you should because it's something you'll remember forever.
And as a comic book collector and reader it's fun to have people share your passion with you. I don't know many people in my area who are into comics so it's really nice to be able to have intelligent conversations with people all weekend about different characters or stories. We all have this common bond as collectors and it's fun to see someone each day of the show. You get so share stories of your collection, you get to debate about stories, and share your hauls with each other, it was just extremely fun.
My back is sore, my feet hurt and I'm loosing my voice, but I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat. As long as I'm able to I'll be attending Boston Comic Con for the foreseeable future.
2015 can't come soon enough. It was definitely bitter sweet to cut off that wristband after the show today. I was glad to go home and just relax for a bit, but also somewhat sad knowing that it will be a year until the next con and I probably won't get to see a lot of those people again until then.
So I'm sure you guys are sick of hearing about Boston Comic Con at this point, but it was to great for me not to talk about.
So thank you Boston Comic Con, I'll see you next year!
